Privaris' plusID 75 Personal Identity Verification Token Named Finalist in Prestigious International Sesames Award
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - September 29, 2008: Privaris, a leading provider of personal, wireless identity verification solutions, today announced that its plusID 75 personal biometric token was selected as a Sesames Awards finalist. 233 security products were nominated for the competition.
The Sesames Awards, an undisputed label of innovation in the smart card industry, will be announced on the eve of CARTES & IDentification, the world’s leading event on digital security, smart card and identification.
Privaris’ plusID 75 combines the features of a smart card with the benefits of biometrics in a handheld token to create a secure, universal identity credential for computer logon via Bluetooth™ in place of passwords, and building entry in place of access cards.
“The plusID 75 is an unprecedented security product, backed by years of R&D and patents. We’re pleased that it continues to receive industry recognition, particularly from such a well respected international body,” said John Petze, CEO of Privaris. “The Sesames Award judges recognize that organizations have long struggled with security vulnerabilities posed by traditional access security solutions. The plusID 75 directly addresses these challenges by combining the innovation and convenience of wireless technology with the security and privacy of a trusted biometrics-based token.”
Selected by an international jury, the ten Sesames Award winners, one per technology category, will be revealed on November 3, 2008 in Paris, France. plusID 75 is a finalist in the IT Security Application category.
Privaris’ plusID 75 multi-function personal biometric token leverages Bluetooth™, USB and RFID technology to ensure secure wireless logical (IT) and physical access. It identifies itself to computers as a standard smart card, making it compatible with existing operating systems – no middleware required; for physical access, plusID emulates standard Prox and iCLASS cards – no installation required, allowing for a fast and cost-effective upgrade to biometric access.
In April, the plusID 75 won the Security Industry Association’s New Product Showcase Innovation Award for excellence in biometrics design.
