Privaris' plusID Manager Simplifies Deployment of Biometric Identity Verification Across Large Enterprises; Enables Biometric Logon for Personal PCs
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - July 29, 2008: Privaris, a leading provider of multi-function biometric identity verification solutions, announces the availability of plusID Manager Version 2.0, in support of its plusID family of personal identity verification tokens for secure physical and IT access. Version 2.0 extends the capabilities and convenience of the plusID Manager software for administering and enrolling plusID biometric tokens.
This major release includes the plusID Manager Professional Edition, which simplifies the plusID issuance process for large enterprises by offering multi-client support, import and export functionality, more extensive reporting features, and a key server for a more convenient method of securing plusID tokens to the issuing organization.
plusID trusted biometric tokens work “out-of-the-box” not just with existing card readers at doorways, but also with Microsoft Certificate Services, allowing users to literally forget about their Windows passwords. Certificate Services is a standard feature of Windows when deployed in an enterprise.
For home and small business users that do not operate Certificate Services, the new Logical Access Support Package enables plusID to work with standalone PCs for secure logon in place of passwords. plusID communicates with PCs over USB or wirelessly via Bluetooth™, and supports both two- and three-factor authentication mode.
“We’re excited to offer the peace of mind that comes from using plusID personal biometric tokens for securing computers and data to the consumer and small office home office (SOHO) markets,” said John Petze, President & CEO of Privaris. “Previously only large organizations were able to reap plusID’s benefits as a convenient solution to the challenge of reliable IT identity verification.”
The new plusID Manager Professional Edition is in direct response to Privaris’ enterprise customers’ requests for a streamlined approach to large-scale plusID deployments. It accommodates the importing of employee records from existing physical access control systems (PACS), supports multiple issuing workstations, and provides a simple way to secure plusID devices to the enterprise. “So now, whether you’re an organization of 1 or 10,000, issuing and using plusID tokens for physical and IT security is simple,” said John Petze.
The plusID family of multi-function identity verification tokens adds the heightened security of biometrics while eliminating the security and audit issues surrounding lost or stolen cards and passwords. plusID allows for rapid integration by working seamlessly with existing physical and logical security systems, and ensures personal privacy by performing all biometric processing, including matching, on the user's personal device.
