Privaris plusID 75 Receives 2008 Security Industry Association's New Product Showcase Innovation Award
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - April 7, 2008: Privaris, a leading provider of personal, biometric identity verification solutions, today announces that its plusID 75 trusted biometric token has won SIA's 2008 NPS Innovation Award for excellence in biometrics product design during the ISC West show in Las Vegas. More than 100 new products and technologies were judged at the annual awards program, now in its 30th year.
plusID 75 is a multi-function personal identity verification token that leverages Bluetooth™ and RFID technology and ensures secure wireless logical (IT) and physical access. It is the latest addition to Privaris' unique plusID™ product line designed to meet the growing market demand for a convenient, yet secure and cost-effective solution to today's network and facility access vulnerabilities. The plusID 75 identifies itself to PCs and laptops exactly as a smart card does, and to door readers exactly as a Prox or iCLASS card, allowing for a fast and simple upgrade to biometric logon with no installation or additional middleware required. The solution also works with select single sign-on (SSO) software. The plusID 75 reduces the administrative hassle and the expense of IT password management and eliminates the security issues surrounding lost or stolen cards and passwords.
"We are proud to receive this industry recognition from the Security Industry Association," said John Petze, President and CEO, Privaris. "Both Privaris and SIA recognize that organizations have long been struggling with the security gaps that traditional access security solutions pose, which are often expensive to both manage and deploy. With that in mind, we've developed a personal identity-verification solution that combines the innovation and convenience of wireless technology with the security and privacy of a biometrics-based token, and are pleased to see that industry leaders recognize the value behind our approach."
"Heading into our 30th year, New Product Showcase continues to be a win-win for ISC West attendees and exhibitors," said Richard Chace, executive director and CEO, The Security Industry Association. "By showcasing only the most innovative new security solutions, it provides a one-stop shop for buyers and influencers looking for the latest in product innovation. It also provides terrific exposure for exhibitors' new products and services."
The plusID family line allows for rapid integration by working seamlessly with existing physical and logical security systems, and ensures personal privacy by performing all biometric processing, including matching, on the user's personal device rather than an external database.
