MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA and CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - January 30, 2007: MetaPass, Inc.  announced today that it has joined the Privaris® plusID Compatible™ Partner Program. As such, the MetaPass’ Enterprise Single Sign-On (SSO) software is being certified interoperable with the plusID Universal Biometric Token, which supports secure access to multiple facilities, computers and networks.

The Privaris plusID™ security token is a personal identity verification device that uses fingerprint technology for logical access to IT resources and for physical access to buildings and facilities, via RFID, Bluetooth™, and USB.  The combination of the plusID trusted authentication device and the MetaPass software gives plusID users another option for secure logical access.  With the plusID device, the need for a Master SSO Password is eliminated, and the security of the application is significantly enhanced through biometric identity verification.  Enterprise users need only verify once, by swiping their finger across the built-in fingerprint reader on their plusID wireless token, and from that point on, the user simply clicks on an icon and the MetaPass SSO automatically and securely logs them into any application, website, network or VPN.

Access to IT resources can be secured by up to three unique authentication factors —something users have (the plusID token), something they are (their fingerprint), and if the application or security threat warrants — something they know (a password or PIN).

In addition to the MetaPass SSO software, plusID is compatible with standard smart card interfaces and HID Prox and iCLASS access control card readers, allowing for rapid enterprise-wide integration of a single employee credential − without requiring changes to existing security systems.

plusID employs the BCM 5890 secure processor from Broadcom to perform trusted cryptographic operations as well as to secure the biometric template stored on the device.  Additionally, all biometric processing and matching is performed on-device, eliminating the need for a biometric database and providing an unparalleled level of protection for user’s sensitive biometric information.

The MetaPass SSO software allows the enterprise to control who has access to what IT resources, in real time, providing for higher security and higher productivity.  In addition to a universal client software allowing users to access all secure applications in one-click, without typing passwords, it also comprises a powerful identity and access management server for the IT.
