John D. Petze
President and Chief Executive Officer
John Petze joined Privaris as President and Chief Executive Officer effective June 30, 2006. Mr. Petze previously served for six years as President and Chief Executive Officer of Tridium Inc., a global software company specializing in device-to-enterprise applications. Tridium saw great success under Mr. Petze’s leadership and was acquired by Honeywell International in late 2005. He is an experienced technology executive, having held the position of CEO, CTO, VP of Marketing and Product Management, VP of Product Development and VP of Operations. He possesses a strong technical background and extensive experience in new product development and the development of marketing programs and customer support organizations. His experience spans hardware and software development, automation systems, networking and Internet technologies. Mr. Petze has served in a variety of senior technical and management positions with manufacturers of hardware and software in his 25-plus year career. He is a cum laude graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, MA, is a frequent speaker at industry trade events and has authored numerous technical papers.
Barry W. Johnson
Co-Founder, and Chief Technology Officer
Barry Johnson is a founder and is responsible for the overall strategic vision for the company.
He is also a Professor in the Charles L. Brown Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Virginia where he has spent the past 22 years creating new concepts in computer dependability and security. He has worked extensively with startup companies throughout Virginia in coordination with Virginia's Center for Innovative Technology and through his role as a director of a state-funded technology innovation center. Prior to joining the University of Virginia, he was with Harris Corporation where he designed and analyzed fault-tolerant computer systems for aerospace applications. He is the author of two books, eight book chapters, and more than 150 articles. Dr. Johnson is a past member of the IEEE Board of Directors and the IEEE Computer Society Board of Governors and Executive Committee. He served as the IEEE Computer Society's President in 1997 and is an IEEE Fellow for his contributions to fault-tolerant computing. Dr. Johnson holds B.S., M.E., and Ph.D degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Virginia.
Michael M. Kohonoski
Chief Operating Officer
Mike Kohonoski has been involved in entrepreneurial activities in the Washington DC area for the past 20 years. Previously, he co-founded netgenshopper.com, served as the President of this online sales lead generation service and facilitated its merger with Respond.com. Prior experience includes functioning as the Chief Operating Officer for Authentica Security Technologies, a software security firm, President and CEO of The Guild Corporation, a technical services firm, and holding various engineering and product development roles with Valutec and Xerox. Mr. Kohonoski holds a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Carnegie-Mellon University.
Sandra Thomas
Chief Financial Officer
Sandra Thomas joined Privaris in November 2007. Previously, she was Chief Financial Officer of First Avenue Networks (NASDAQ: FRNS, now NASDAQ: FTWR), a fixed wireless telecommunications company. In this role, she was part of a three-person team that brought a company from bankruptcy to a NASDAQ listing. Formerly, Ms. Thomas was a co-founder and Chief Financial Officer of MuseumCompany.com where she was responsible for all aspects of finance, accounting and administration. Prior to MuseumCompany.com, she served as Senior Vice President of Finance of an Internet retailer. There she was part of a team that raised $145 million in an IPO and $131 million in private funding prior to the IPO. In addition, she established the finance, accounting, and human resources departments, as well as the operational controls for enterprise-wide order management and financial reporting systems. She also developed and implemented cash investment policies and programs for cash balances in excess of $170 million. A Certified Public Accountant, Ms. Thomas spent 14 years with PriceWaterhouseCoopers. She holds a B.B.A. from the College of William and Mary.
Thomas Reigle
Executive Vice President of Government Systems
Tom Reigle was the Chief Operating Officer for Corbett Technologies with a focus on information assurance service. Previous experience includes Vice President of Sales and Marketing for James Martin Government Intelligence, Advance Paradigms Inc., and he was Director of Professional Services for Wang Laboratories. Prior to his industry experience he served in the United States Army for twenty years in the areas of intelligence, telecommunications, operations and government contracting (research and development). Prior to retirement from the United States Army in 1985, Mr. Reigle served as the program manager for the Army National Guard. Mr. Reigle holds a BAA degree from Campbell University and is a graduate of the Army Command and Staff College, and Acquisition Management School.
Stephen E. McDorman
Vice President of Commercial Systems
Steve McDorman is an experienced executive with a proven track record across a broad range of enterprises domestically and internationally. Building on a background in sales and marketing management along with technology, he has a proven ability to bridge top-level strategy and field level implementation. In both business-to-business and business-to-consumer organizations Mr. McDorman has built and managed teams and deployed enabling technologies on an international basis. His direct experience includes positions with Tandy Corporation, AND International, as well as several start-ups and his own consulting business. Mr. McDorman holds a degree in Business Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University.
